CTA Update

Ok, I've figured it out, now. Trains rock and buses suck!!! We've gone back to walking to the train for most trips and the CTA is back on my good side.

One Air show Coming Up!!!

I've never been that excited about air shows, they seem kind of bizarre. So, yesterday I was sitting in my apartment debugging some php code, when I heard a loud roar. I looked up to see two F-16's fly directly towards me. Then they flew directly over my building. It was loud and kind of cool.

Then they proceeded to fly circles around my apartment building and even flew directly in between my building and the high rise across the street. I'm hooked!!! I have my tickets for the 44th floor deck on Sunday and will probably check it out from the North Street Beach on Saturday.

The Rose Colored Glasses are coming off

So,

I came here in May to check out the city and see if I could live here. I decided to donate my car to charity, live in the city and get around on the CTA. I took a couple of trains and things seemed great.

Then I moved here. I'm about six blocks from the Red Line and 7 blocks from the Brown Line. I took the train downtown quite a bit and loved it. Then I had to take a bus. At first it was great, the 22 runs right by my building and it comes every 7 or 8 minutes. Unless I need it.

The CTA trip planner tells me that places are 15 minutes away, but they take a half hour to 45 minutes to get to... Why? I'm starting the think that maybe the CTA sucks. We shall see.

I'm starting to think that maybe, I kinda want my car back...

Greetings

Hi folks,

I am Bill Stafford, The PC Handyman. I'm 41, a father one and new to Chicago. I moved here on July 15, 2007 and I've been getting acclimated ever since.

My current goals are to get to know the city and kick start my business. So, far the city is great!!! My daughter and I have been enjoying the Tuesday night Movies in the park as well as the Wednesday night movie at the Cultural center. We've also been out to a number of great restaurants, the beach, the Parks (Lincoln & Grant) and a few shopping excursions.

As for business, I'm off to a slow start, I've seen exactly 1 client in Chicago as I finish up some projects from Philadelphia.

I'll try to make this fun and lightly humored. In the meantime, you just might see me out an about in my "Computer Problems?" t-shirt shameless promoting myself as I search for client number 2.
